Can I bring food and drink into the arena? Sorry but no food or drink is allowed into the Festival Arena with the exception of baby food. We promise you that inside you will find a wide variety of good quality food and drink at reasonable prices
Can I bring food and drink into the campsite? Yes a small amount of food and drink can be brought into the campsite on first entry – NO BBQS or open fires. You are able to bring the following alcohol into the campsite;
EITHER 8 cans or beer, lager or cider per person OR 4 cans and equivalent of 1 bottle of wine per person (please bring bagged or packet wine as NO glass allowed on site) We do not allow spirits or hard liquor into the campsite.
Glas-Denbury is an independant festival run by a dedicated team of volunteers who are endeavouring to keep it going for you for years to come. It relies on bar sales, catering pitches and trading pitches to do this and so to continue the magic we please encourage you to help the longevity of the festival by supporting the bars and food traders on site. We have your well being at the forefront of everything, which is why we restrict the amount of alcohol you can bring into the campsite. We assure you that our bar prices are well below other event prices and in line with, if not below, pub prices. We do know however that you may need a little Dutch courage to kick start your weekend hence we allow a small amount of alcohol into the campsite!
Can we camp next to our friends camper van? Camper vans and tents are within the same fields but in segregated areas for safety reasons.
Water – Please bring a reuseable water bottle to the festival if possible. By 2019 we are endeavouring to rid the site of single use plastic wherever possible, including plastic water bottles. We want to reduce landfill waste and ensure full access to mains water across the site and camping fields. We therefore encourage everyone to bring along their own reuseable water bottles and refill them over the weekend. (Please note all water bottles going into the festival arena must be empty) Long waking hours, dancing and summer sun will make you thirsty so please don’t forget to drink lots of water.
No Glass – No glass is permitted on site for obvious safety reasons.
Smoking – (including e-cigarettes) is not permitted in any of the marquees on the festival site.
Dogs – Although we love our dogs, dogs are not permitted on the festival site (with the exception of asistance dogs by prior arrangement) Please do not leave your dog in you car.
First Aid – We have a dedicated Emergency First Aid area on site, manned 24 hours a day throughout the festival by Devon Emergency Medical Services. It is located by the main gate – just look for the ambulance!
Lost Property and People – The lost property and lost people point is located at the information tent, in between the main bar and the Emporium stage.
Cards and Cash – The bars take card payments and we can also offer a cash withdrawal option. Some, but not all, traders will accept cards.
Phone Charging – we offer phone charging for a small fee at the Information Tent.
Restricted Items – The following are not allowed into the campsite or festival arena;
Drones / Stereo systems or amplified music / Illegal substances / Portable laser equipment and pens / Unauthorised professional film or video equipment / Audio recorders / Air Horns / Fireworks, flares or Chinese Lanterns / Any item which may reasonably be considered for use as a weapon / Open Fires / Disposable BBQs & Firepits/ Nitrous Oxide / Petrol Burners / Aerosols (deodrants and portable stove gas canisters are of course allowed into the camping fields)
Alcohol – Please know your limits with regards to alcohol and those of your friends and take care as alcohol can be lethal.
Hand Washing – Remember to wash your hands as infection can spread quickly on a festival site, especially before eating.
Sun Protection – Please bring and use sun cream as even with clouds the sun’s harmful rays can get to your skin and wear hats – the whackier the better as we are at a festival after all!
Sound levels – Protect your ears and wear ear protection if you are planning on getting up close to the speakers and remember babies and children’s ears are far more delicate so bring ear protection for them. The information/lost child area can supply you with earplugs free of charge if you need them and the first aid units on site are there to assist you with any concerns you may have.
Back in 2016 Glas-Denbury became a member of Festival Vision : 2025. They joined the growing number of committed festival organisers who are taking the Pledge and are now among the many Vision Festivals to make the festival industry an exemplar of environmental responsibility. It is a shared vision for a sustainable festival industry, conceived as part of The Show Must Go On report; a festival industry response to the 2015 global climate change talks in Paris. The Show Must Go On report outlined the environmental impacts of the festival industry and aims to provide a robust basis for industry-wide. The Festival Vision: 2025 Pledge brings together festivals that wish to take action to create a sustainable future.
“As festival organisers we know how to create unforgettable experiences and how to inspire people. We know how to get things done in challenging circumstances and we are accomplished at communicating with audiences. It is well within our reach to turn our industry into an exemplar of environmental responsibility. We can make a vital and significant contribution to a future that we want our children to inherit. Festival organisers working with their many and diverse partners, from concessions to the supply chain, contractors, charities and brands, can provide leadership for what is perhaps the most important conversation of our time.” The Show Must Go On report, Powerful Thinking http://www.powerful-thinking.org.uk/
“When it comes to sustainability and saving our planet, there is still so much for us all to work on. We are so lucky to be situated in such a beautiful part of the world such as Devon. Over the last few years we have been quietly working to ensure sustainable development and reduce its footprint, as we are all totally and utterly capable of creating magic for people without impacting on our beautiful planet. Glas-Denbury will continue to move forward and our commitment towards sustainability means we will continue to work alongside our suppliers, crew, guests and everyone involved in the festival, to ensure the Glas-Denbury magic never ever impacts on our planet…except in a good way of course! One full of rainbows, smiles and a bucketful of love! 🌈😍💚” Festival Director Emma Twamley
Here are some of the ways we are working towards ensuring our beautiful festival does not impact on our beautiful planet. We are determined to rid the world of single use plastic!
Reseable Cups at all bars ; We use reuseable cups for use on site at all bars. Not only does it make your festival drinking experience much better by using a sturdier cup, but it rids the site of horrendous plastic cups and therefore drastically reduces the landfill produced. You can also keep the cups if you wish as souvenirs at the end of the festival!
Recycling; Since the start of the festival Glas-Denbury has recycled waste on site wherever possible, and over the last few years the amount of landfill produced has reduced dramatically. Glas-Denbury is lucky as everyone who attends the festival treats the site with respect, clearing up after themselves and therefore the recycling system on site works extremely well. We are working hard to move towards a “Zero to Landfill” waste policy. There will be recycling points all over the site so please help us ensure that we don’t leave a mark on the land – help us by recycling and ensuring you put the right thing in the right bin! If you are camping please take your waste home with you and please think about what you place in bins. Broken tents/chairs/airbeds can be taken home with you and disposed of responsibly. . Bin bags will be available for all campers at the entrance gate.
Travel and Transport; Reducing emissions attributable to travel and transport is vital and so we offer a FREE shuttle bus which runs between the festival and Newton Abbot. (see the travel page for more info) These shuttle buses are there to encourage you to leave your cars at home. There is also a public bus service from Newton Abbot to Denbury or if you do have to drive then why not car share with someone else? If you are a cyclist then we will have secure bike parking on site as well.
Suppliers; Glas-Denbury uses 100% South West suppliers, and the majority of food stands, traders are South West based as well.
Ban on plastic cutlery/straws/carrier bags; As well as plastic cups being banned across site, 2019 will also see a ban on plastic cutlery and plastic carrier bags on site. Please use eco friendly bags instead – and bring eco friendly utensils if you are camping? The production crew behind the scenes have pledged no plastic cutlery and we will be encouraging all food traders on site to do the same. By 2019 there will be an across the site “no single use plastic” rule on food catering.
Ban Plastic Water Bottles from 2019; One of the biggest pledges that the festival is making this year, is that from 2019, Glas-Denbury will be banning all plastic water bottles across the site and reducing single use plastic useage. We ask everyone to bring a reuseable water bottle which can be refilled at drinking water points on site.
Eco Glitter; We are ALL about glitter – but in a responsible way! Please use eco, glitter biodegradeable so you wont be polluting the planet or harming your skin. Ecostardust offer glitter that contains no toxic chemicals and is free from the 14 most common allergens, is compostable and marine and waste water safe – as well as still offering the same high quality precision cut and shine as conventional glitter! www.ecostardust.com
