Finally we have got around to writing this blog! We have been meaning to for a while now but event life is an interesting one and you just never know what will happen from day to day to hijack your plans! We do promise you that this blog wont be filled with anything but colourful happy news and stories from the lives of the team members who run GlasDenbury. We assure you that it’s a rather eclectic life, full of surprise and occasionally, very occasionally a little madness!
So let’s start with tonight…it’s the night before the South West Tourism Excellence Awards, being held at the Aerospace Museum at Filton, Bristol and we have been shortlisted as FINALISTS, for the second year running, for FESTIVAL OF THE YEAR, alongside 3 other incredible events including Cornwall’s Boardmasters, Somerset’s Eat Festivals and Dorset’s Dippy on Tour at Dorset Museum.
This year, the prestigious Tourism Awards received a record 651 entries from the region including Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Bath, Bristol, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Judges based their decisions on evidence of not just “good” but of “excellent” – hence to be shortlisted as one of 3 – yes 3 finalists from all of those counties is incredible and we are SO PROUD! After winning GOLD at the Devon Tourism Excellence awards back in November for Festival of the year 2018, this is the icing on the cake!
So back to tonight – we are frantically trying to decide what outfits to wear, what colour shoes and whether we can get away with introducing a bit of festival glitter to proceedings! (After all we are representing the most colourful event in the South West so it has to be done – Eco Glitter of course!) On that point check out our friends at “Ecostardust” www.ecostardust.com for some amazing eco planet friendly glitter – of which we will be wearing tomorrow night!)
Press releases are being prepared, logos updated and the nerves are beginning to kick in. We are so proud to be representing not only our incredible team and all the suppliers and people who have a part in GlasDenbury, but Devon! Devon is full of wonderful events and festivals and if we can go a little way towards bringing people down to our gorgeous county then we are on it like a car bonnet!
Wish us luck! Have everything crossed and keep an eye on social media tomorrow night as we go live from the awards for you!
Emma, Merryn and Ben xxxx
